At age 3, Judy was riding her tricycle along the sidewalk when Mrsa. Spencer, who was gardening across the street, called to her that she had a little girl her age. Judy was not allowed to cross the street on her own, so went home to get her mother, who walked her acrpss the street to meet Susie Spencer. That was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. Judy and Sue attended school together through UCLA, climbed Half Dome in Yosemite, as well as traveling through Europe, Asia, North & South America.
