Auntie Marcelle, Laura, Madeline & Audrey fly LAX to Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris. Games on plane include yarn & stitch boards. Ian flies to Paris, rents a car and stays in a Holiday Inn Express awaiting our arrival.Jun 30: Travel to Locquirec
Drive west 5.5 hours to Brittany -- plenty of time to eat a whole box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. Give all the gross ones to Uncle Ian and make him guess the flavor. Check into beach house overlooking English Channel.Jul 1-6: Enjoy Locquirec
Collect shells on the beach, watching tides rise and recede more than 2.5 miles. Walk to town across wet sand at low tide to buy ice cream and wander the outdoor market. Learn "Ne touchez pas!" at fruit stalls. Dig in the sand for cockles to cook for Uncle Ian. Graze on fabulous cheeses, olives and bread. Make a PIM's commercial. Hike along the coast -- watch out for bears! Explore old Roman ruins. Visit the nearby town of Morlaix and village of Plougasnou. Read Charlie & the Chocolate Factory late at night because it stays light until 10pm.Jul 7: Travel to Île de Bréhat
Drive 1h15m to Ploubazlanec. Park car and take ferry to this coastal island that doesn't allow automobiles. Rent bicycles and explore. Auntie rides and abandons Madeleine's too tiny bike somewhere on the island.Accommodation: Hotel BellevueJul 8: Drive to Dinan
Drive 1h30m to Dinan. Check into 400-year-old house in the historic center on Rue de Petit Fort. Discover the first snake in the kitchen. Buy cleaning materials and clean. Browse the shops and dine on the Rue de Petit Fort. Decide to relocate after finding a second snake.Jul 9-13: Relocate to Quévert
Find a lovely, clean house with an award-winning garden tended by an elderly couple outside Dinan. Play in the garden and walk in the countryside. Visit Dinan's outdoor market and walk along the medieval city walls. Buy a zebra-striped toilet seat for Grandma's animal bathroom. Picnic at Fort La Latte and explore every inch of the 14th century castle.Jul 14: Bastille Day in Paris
Drive 4 hrs to Paris. Check into hotel with smallest elevator. Walk across Pont Neuf and past Le Louvre for dinner. Take most crowded Metro ever to Eiffel Tower for fireworks show, which starts while we're stuck in Metro tunnel with sweating walls. Finally get out the bottleneck to watch fireworks. Bribe our way into a hotel for a pit stop. Walk 2.5 miles back to our hotel (with Audrey asleep on Marce's back) because "No way we're going back in that gopher hole!"Accommodation: Hotel Verneuil & Hotel LenoxJul 15: Explore Paris
Walk past the Île de la Citè and Le Louvre to the St. Michel neighborhood on la rive gauche for lunch. Very necessary afternoon nap. Take the Metro to Roberta's house for dinner.Jul 16: Eiffel Tower & Notre Dame
Climb 328 steps to the first platform of the Eiffel Tower for lunch and views. Visit Notre Dame. Have dinner at Bouillon Julien.Jul 17: Fly Home/London
