The Catholic Kerrs fled Scotland for Ireland during the Reformation in the 1500s. Robert C's grandfather, Robert J, emigrated to the US in 1832 and settled in Baltimore.
Robert C. Kerr's sister, Jessie Betts, along with husband Bill, was an integral part of Kerr family life from the 1930s through the 50s. The couple had no children of their own and Jessie survived her older brother by more than 20 years, providing the only link to Robert C's generation of Kerrs.
1933: The Betts appear in the home movie "The Family Album" by Kingdon Kerr.
c1945: The Betts receive visitors Margaret, Judy & Bob at their home in Beverly Hills.
